This Piece is called "Alternate Universe". It is a table or pedistal with an array of brass balls which are designed to transition in and out of a helix shape. I worked on this concept for well over a year and built numerous prototypes before finding a configuration that looked good and operated properly. It is hand powered and runs for ten to fifteen minutes with a single push.
